Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit!

Ever since I was a teenager I've said, "Rabbit, Rabbit" on the first of the month and "Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit" on the first of the year. Supposedly, if you say it before you say anything else, you have good luck all month and/or year. Seems like we could use a lot of world-wide luck, so Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit everyone! (and Happy New Year too.)

PS I have no idea why it's "Rabbit, Rabbit". I think my friend read this in a Trixie Belden book--yes, I live my life based on a serial kid's book. Also, yes, I have had a pretty lucky life, so as first yearly words go, these seem to be good ones.

I wrote myself a note and put it on my nightstand!

Should it be the first thing you say in the new year, or the first thing you say when you wake up? I plan to be up past midnight. Hmmm... I guess I'll do both, just to be on the safe side.

It's supposed to be the first thing you say for that day-- which technically starts at midnight. So if you're up at midnight, that's the time to say it. A lot of first of the months I'm not up at midnight, so I say it in the morning. I tend to forget the morning times easier though. Hmmm... wonder if I said it first thing in November and December. I think I didn't. D'oh! Certainly explains some things.

I am happy to report that Meta and I explained "Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit!" to the attendees of the New Year's Party at The Compound last night. When the ball dropped, everyone yelled: "Three...two...one...zero...rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! Happy New Year!"

And then I said it again this morning.

Yay! How exciting. I said it too. So did the kids and a friend of theirs. Plus we ate ice cream cake.
